The Different uses for wireless cameras

There are loads of ways you can use a hidden wireless spy camera including detecting employee thievery, capturing abusing care givers, adulterous partners, overcurious landlords and stealing roommates.

1) Wireless spy cameras can be black and white or color.

You will get better object definition from a colour wireless spy camera but tend to be a tad more expensive. Black and white models normally produce somewhat higher resolution images and are a touch cheaper than their color counterparts.

2) Sensitivity to low light.

The light sensitivity of a camera is measurable in LUX. The lower the LUX level the lower light the camera can work in. For a spy camera to see in poor light conditions, go with a unit with a LUX of 0.05. If you require pitch dark covert performance go for a spy camera unit with a rating of less than 0.03LUX.

3) Image Picture quality.

Resolution is measured in TVL (Television Lines). The higher the number of Television Lines, the higher the quality of image will be. Even for the most discerning of private detectives 380 TV-Lines will be all right.

4) Is the Receiver included?

The receiver is connected to your viewing / recording device: TV, VCR, PC or Digital Video Recorder (DVR), so you can capture and or view the inbound video and audio from the wireless camera. If the wireless spy camera does not come in a package which includes a receiver, ask the seller the cost to add a receiver to the purchase.

5) The transmission frequency.

This is the frequency range the wireless spy camera uses to broadcast the video signal to the receiver. There are presently 434MHz, 900MHz, 1.2GHz, 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz transmission frequencies ranges. 2.4GHz would seem to be the most popular wireless range and at a maximum output power of 10mW this range is licence free across Europe and in the United States.

Because of interference, you should avoid using 434mhz and 900mhz models. 1.2ghz and 2.4ghz are better choices.

6) The signal transmission distance

Transmission range is usually specified as 'line of sight', it is a measure of the maximum distance between the spy camera and receiver and still receive the signal with no obstruction and interference between the two. The range is usually between 300 feet and 2000 feet depending on the model.

7) Hidden Camera or Stand Alone

Normallywireless spy cameras are tiny and are designed that way to be very easy to obscure by the buyer, however, it's also feasible to obtain pre-concealed units that will come built into an everyday items. Teddy bears, Smoke detectors, Eye glasses, cigarette packets etc. So depending on what you require your spy camera for, you may want to get a pre-hidden wireless spy camera and you are all set. The wireless receiver part remains the same but pre-hiddden cameras can be easy and conveient solution as they are very easy to set up.

Please be aware: If you intend to use wireless security camera you will most probably have to deal with interference and obstructions, so don't accept the transmission range publicized as in the real world the working range will not go as far. Ask the store for a more realistic figure.

So now you have the information needed to buy a quality wireless spy camera, just bear in mind the 7 elements for choosing one. It just maybe the difference between acquiring the evidence needed or not!
